The 10th Anniversary of the Diocese of Leeds

The 10th anniversary of the Diocese of Leeds takes place on Saturday, April 20, 2024 and is an opportunity to both reflect and look forward to coming decades.

The Diocese was created in 2014, and the Rt Revd Nick Baines became its first Bishop in June of that year. We have three cathedrals of equal status: Ripon, Wakefield, and Bradford, and there are five episcopal areas within the diocese, each led by an area bishop: Leeds, Ripon, Wakefield, Bradford and Huddersfield.

The Diocese of Leeds comprises all the ecclesial traditions of the Church of England. It also reaches across urban, suburban and rural communities, where the challenge for the future is how the Gospel is to be faithfully and creatively proclaimed and lived in a changing world.

We are a vibrant diocese, equipping confident clergy to enable confident Christians to live and tell the Good News in our large region.

The Archbishop of York, the Most Revd Stephen Cottrell, will be visiting the diocese on Saturday, April 20 this year, for a weekend touring the region and marking this important milestone in the life of our diocese. Details of his visit will be shared in due course.
