The Bishop of Chelmsford, Rt Revd Stephen Cottrell has said:

“How we treat animals speaks volumes about how we view ourselves.”

He was preaching at the national service for Animal Welfare Sunday in Chelmsford Cathedral on Sunday, 7 October 2012.
